Finding a good career is a challenging task, particularly for people who don’t have (or don’t want) a degree.
In fact, most people struggle just to find a job, much less a career that they can grow in and earn over time.
Most people give up looking for good careers (no degree required) pretty early on, because it simply doesn’t seem possible, but careers like that are out there it just takes a bit of dedication and luck to find them.
As you can probably tell, my focus for this article and for this site isn’t really on traditional careers. In general, I try to focus on the online environment and the way that you can earn money that way.
However, there are actually some good careers, no degree required, that take place in the offline world. So, I’m going to talk about those briefly first.
Some technical careers require a considerable amount of training, but this training isn’t something that is done through the university system.
In some cases, it is the employee that pays for the training, but other times the employer does.
An example of this is being an Air Traffic Controller, which is actually a highly paid role, but it does involve a considerable amount of training.
Another career that doesn’t require a degree is being a flight attendant.
This career has an unusual lifestyle associated with it, so some people will love this as a career track while others will hate it.
Still, if it is a lifestyle you like, being a flight attendant can be rewarding financially.
Likewise, careers in both policework and firefighting tend to not require a degree.
Their salaries can vary considerably, but if you are in the right part of the country, the pay can be substantial.
Most roles within these careers will not require a college degree, but there are a few specific ones that do, so you will need to be careful of these.
A final example of a traditional career that don’t require a degree is a real estate broker.
This used to be a highly profitable career, but since the real estate crash, getting involved in real estate probably isn’t a good move yet.
Hopefully, this field will bounce back in the future.
There are other examples of traditional careers that don’t require a job.
The real problem with these types of jobs is that it can be challenging to find the job you want and you will often face a lot of competition in actually getting the position.
The real trick to finding good careers, no degree required – is to make your own.
There really is a lot of demand out there, and if you can figure out how to tap into it, then you do have the potential to make a lot of money.
I know people who never went through any formal training online. Instead, they simply saw a need that they could fill and went for it.
Honestly, the potential for profit from doing this is basically limitless, particularly if you are smart about what needs you try to meet.
One common approach for developing an online career is to create your own website and use this as a launching pad to sell your own product, to market someone else’s product or even to sell advertising.
As you get more people to your site and make more conversions, the amount of money you earn also goes up.
Some people actually find that their traffic goes up faster than they can keep up.
If you’re going to try to succeed in a long-term online career, there are a few things you have to consider.
First, you have to have a long-term plan.
Making money online takes time and developing your own business and career takes even longer.
There are no shortcuts.
You need to seriously sit down and look at what it is you want to do and how you plan on achieving this.
When doing this, you need to be realistic about your own abilities and how long things will take, because an unrealistic plan is never going to get you anywhere.
Second, you need to research what it takes to be successful at an online career, including the skills and specific approaches you are going to need.
For example, I decided early on that I wanted to make my own website and try to earn money that way.
However, it took much longer for me to figure out exactly how I was going to do that.
Even then, I keep finding things that I didn’t know – because honestly, the learning never does stop.
Finally, being successful at making money online means you have to be prepared and dedicated.
If you give up after a month, you are never going to get anywhere.
Some people find that it takes three or six months to see any profit at all, while others earn profits almost instantly.
There are so many factors involved, including how you are trying to earn money in the first place and your previous experience.
In fact, some people take more than a year to make profit, but are now highly profitable within their field.
If you don’t think you have the dedication to forge your own way and to stick with it, then maybe this isn’t the right direction to be considering.
